Superintendent Statement
As the community is aware, the Penn Hills School District has been undergoing an audit by State Auditor General Eugene DePasquale. On May 18th, Mr. Pasquale presented the results of the audit at a press conference at Linton Middle School.

Briefly, the District began to closely examine the educational programs we provide when I came onboard as Assistant Superintendent in July 2014. In Spring of 2015, all educational reform was halted, and the District went into crisis mode as our financial survival became our sole focus.

Since that time, we have stabilized our financial condition somewhat and are attempting to get back to educational reform, including programmatic reviews. We have not solved our financial issues, and we remain extremely fragile. Next year’s budget, as well as those that follow, will be difficult.

Regardless, we remain hopeful and cautious. We have the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s support as well as the support of the Auditor General’s Office. Our administrative team is committed to seeing the District through this difficult situation, but it will take time.

We have provided a link to the Auditor General’s report as well as video of the press conference. Any additional news of the audit will be provided on this page. As Superintendent of what I believe is a truly amazing District, I would like to thank our staff, students, parents, and community for their support during this time.

Dr. Nancy J. Hines, Superintendent
