Good morning. We are thrilled to be able to notify our Penn Hills families that we were just approved in Harrisburg to begin offering a single food distribution site at Linton MS as of TODAY from 12:00-2:00 pm. Unfortunately, Grab 'n Go meals may only be offered to children who report in person, and no dine-in option will be available. We will do our best to limit physical contact among children, their families, and our staff during distribution. We are prepared to disseminate Grab 'n Go meals Monday-Friday from 12:00-2:00 pm during the current closure. Each meal packet will include lunch items for immediate consumption and an extra item that may be saved for breakfast next day.
I also want to take this opportunity to update families about K-12 learning activities during the mandated school closure. We will continue to offer pen and paper packets for pick-up at the W6 door at Linton MS (around back) through Friday of this week (March 20) from 10:00 am-3:00 pm. This same content, along with other updates, will be available to families via our PHSD website (www.phsd.k12.pa.us) within 48 hours.
For our families who have concerns about grading and potential penalties for those who can't access the work, for those who need additional support to complete the work, and other related concerns, please be reassured that PHSD will remain flexible during this unprecedented time, and we hope our families will continue to encourage work completion in the home while school is closed, whether PHSD is the direct source of the recommended activities or not. Families should not hesitate to contact me directly, as needed. My administrative team and I remain on duty until further notice. However, we are following modified work hours: 10:00 am- 3:00 pm. We have access to clerical and tech support, and work areas including supplemental learning activities and food distribution areas are being cleaned by our plant services department daily.
