Penn Hills School District

Update from the Superintendent - 2/28/2022

Good morning.  Penn Hills School District would like to confirm our awareness of recent CDC guidance changes that were released on Friday, February 25 regarding masks in schools.  Because the federal mandate remains in effect that requires students to wear masks while travelling to/from school on district-provided transportation until at least Friday, March 18, it is our intention to remain status quo for those who are studying, working, or visiting indoors within the Penn Hills School District, at least for now.
We realize that masks are not preferred by some at this point; however, we must take care not to put our District in a situation whereby we are knowingly in violation of a federal mandate that remains in effect until at least March 18.  We must keep in mind that large numbers of students use district transportation daily, and it does not seem likely that students, little ones especially, will easily navigate varying mask guidelines during their day.
Please trust that we will be revisiting our mask mandate as we approach the CDC's March 18 timeline.  Accordingly, we are planning to host a special public Board meeting on Wednesday, March 16 at 6:00 pm to review current Penn Hills School District Health and Safety Plan language.  Our committee meetings will follow this special voting session as already planned.  We thank you for your ongoing support and patience.
