New Student Registration

Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten registration begins in February for new incoming students. Registration is held at the Pupil Services Office in Central Administration. To register for Kindergarten, your child must be 5 years old by September 1 of that school year. Only the parents and/or legal guardians can register the child. If you are not the biological parent of the child, you must present us with adoption certificate, notarized 1302 Form, or agency placement letter.

You must also provide us with the following:

  • Current Pennsylvania driver’s license or Pennsylvania identification with current Penn Hills address
  • Two current utility bills (gas, electric, water, sewage, cable, or phone) for the residence that show the parents’/guardians’ name and address
  • Child’s birth certificate
  • Immunization record
  • IEP or GIEP, if applicable

Student Moving Into Our School District

Due to the high volume of clients, we do not take walk-ins and it is necessary to make an appointment for the registration. Please call us at 412-793-7000, x1217 or x1219 in order to make an appointment. Only the parents and/or legal guardians can register the child. If you are not the biological parent of the child, you must present us with adoption certificate, notarized 1302 Form, or agency placement letter. If you are moving into the School District, you must provide us with the following documentation in order to register your child:

  • Current Pennsylvania driver’s license or Pennsylvania identification with current Penn Hills address
  • Proof of residency, including two utility bills (gas, electric, water, sewage, cable, or phone); if you did not get your utility bills yet, we accept confirmation of service letters from the utility companies
  • Child’s birth certificate
  • Immunization record
  • Last report card IEP or GIEP, if applicable
  • Affidavit of Residency, if applicable

Change of Address

Any time you move from one address in Penn Hills to another, you are required to change the address at the Pupil Services Office in person. We will not be able to change your address by fax or any other means. School mails will not be forwarded to your new address unless this process is completed. Continuation of returned mail can create questions in regard to your residency status (if the school receives returned mail from the post office, we may question you to see if you still live in Penn Hills). Please call us at 412-793-7000, x1217 or x1219 in order to make an appointment. Only the parents and/or legal guardians can register the child. Please provide us with the following documentation:

  • Current Pennsylvania driver’s license or Pennsylvania identification with current Penn Hills address
  • Proof of residency, including two utility bills (gas, electric, water, sewage, cable, or phone).

Students in Parochial and Private Schools

If your child is enrolled in parochial or private school and you want transportation provided through the Penn Hills School District, you must register your child in the Pupil Services Office. The school must be District approved in order to receive transportation services. Please call us at 412-793-7000, x1217 or x1219 in order to make an appointment. Only the parents and/or legal guardians can register the child. If you are not the biological parent of the child, you must present us with adoption certificate, notarized 1302 Form, or agency placement letter.

Please provide us with the following documentation:

  • Current Pennsylvania driver’s license or Pennsylvania identification with current Penn Hills address
  • Proof of residency, including two utility bills (gas, electric, water, sewage, cable, or phone)
  • Child's birth certificate.
Withdrawing Students
 
You can withdraw your child from school by going to the school building and filing the proper paperwork. Do not come to the Pupil Services Office.

Regulations on Affidavit of Residency

When you have an affidavit of residency, the following requirements must be met in order for us to accept your affidavit:

  • All forms must be notarized
  • Owner’s utility bills must be presented
  • Parent/guardian must have at least two proofs of residency along with a Pennsylvania driver’s license or Pennsylvania identification with current Penn Hills address on it.
 

Please note that a home visitation may be conducted to verify your residency here in the Penn Hills School District.

----------------- Notice of Penalty for Providing False Information ---------------

A person who knowingly provides false information in this sworn statement for the purpose of enrolling a child in a school district which the child is not eligible commits a summary offense and shall, upon conviction for such violation, be sentenced to pay a fine of up to $300.00, or up to 240 hours of community service, or both. In addition, the person shall pay all court cost and shall be liable to the school district for an amount equal to the cost of tuition calculated in accordance with Section 2561 of the Public School Code during the period of enrollment which can be up to $9,429.62. The Pennsylvania Public School Code can be viewed at www.pacode.com.

Financially Based Pro Se Motion
Family Division has set aside a special time to hear motions presented by individuals who are not represented by an attorney, so that the court will have adequate time to properly consider these motions.

Pro Se Motion Court is held Tuesday and Thursday. Sign up begins at 9:30 am at the information desk on the 1st Floor of the Family Court Facility, Room 3009, 440 Ross Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.

Please bring all of your legal papers/court orders, along with proof of your current income.
