It’s hard to believe there are only about 60 student days left in OUR current school year. As WE close out 22/23, WE have a lot going on. Here’s a quick summary:
No. 2 seed Penn Hills defeated No. 3 North Hills, 67-51, in the WPIAL Class 5A semifinal to advance to the WPIAL Championship on Thurs, March 2 at 9pm at the Petersen Events Center. Tickets are available online through Ticketmaster or sold at the door for $10.

This assembly, as part of Black History Month celebrations, featured Toddja Thornhill, Penn Hills Class of 2019. The interactive assembly allowed students to express themselves through music and dance.
Our Penn Hills Elementary Kindergarten Team is excited to welcome new learners for the 2023-2024 school year! Any child who will be five years old by September 1, 2023 is eligible to register for Kindergarten this coming fall.
Eight Penn Hills Elementary students showed off their math skills when they attended the CalcuSolve competition at Duquesne University on Feb. 3. The event was sponsored by Allegheny Intermediate Unit, and the students competed on an individual and team basis to solve complex math word problems.
Students at Penn Hills High School can get a taste of university life while also earning college credits for the future by participating in the school’s dual enrollment courses, also known as college in high school.

PHSD would like to extend get well wishes to the Penn Hills alum who was shot in McKeesport yesterday while on duty with their police department. We would also like to extend prayers to the friends and family of his fallen police brother who died during the same police call they were responding to in McKeesport.
Based on a court order dated Thursday, February 2, 2023, Penn Hills School District (PHSD) has been directed to serve as a polling site for the Special Election to be hosted Tuesday, February 7, 2023. Accordingly, PHSD is converting to a FULL DAY of REMOTE LEARNING on Tuesday, February 7, for all K-12 students enrolled in the PHSD.
Due to the threat of dangerous weather during travel times tomorrow, Wednesday, January 25, 2023, PHSD is invoking a Flexible Instruction Day (FID). All students and most staff will follow the FID schedule from 10 AM – 3 PM. Plant department employees will follow a more traditional work schedule and as directed by the Plant Department Director. Based on the severity of tomorrow’s forecast all transportation services provided by Penn Hills School District will be cancelled as well.
